Five More Days....

Are you getting excited yet?  The Deathly Hallows comes out in five days... Friday, November 19th, to be exact.  I have friends who started a "movie a night" countdown yesterday to re-view the first six...  sort of a Harry Potter (the movie) refresher course.  I'm seriously considering bagging all the homeschooling this week and watching them all again with the girls.  They, of course, won't be seeing #7 (part the first) in the actual movie theater on Friday (and thus, unfortunately, neither will I).  They're already predicting that the scene where Nagini erupts from the head of Bathilda Bagshot will scare the pants off them.  They prefer to witness that with their heads firmly buried under their own blankies in the privacy of their own living room, thank you very much!

Book 7 was my favorite, so I'm more scared at the thought of how the screenwriters might butcher it, even with the extra time allotted them by splitting it into two movies.  Will you be visiting the theater Friday and if so, what part of the book would you most hate to find on the cutting room floor?

  1. Caroline will also be waiting for the DVD. I don't know what's scarier: the Nagini eruption or the fact that you and I are still up at 11:30pm! :-)

  2. Melissa, considering it's now 6am and I've already been up for an hour prepping to teach all day -- I'm voting for the latter :)

  3. I'm so glad to have found your blog! I'm another knitting, Hogwarts homeschooling mom, and I only live an hour north of you. :) My boys and I have been listening to the books daily the last two months. (I read them all myself as they came out.) We're almost finished with HP6, and hoping to get through the first half of Deathly Hallows before we go see the movie this weekend. My youngest won't go, but the bigger boys have never been bothered by scary movies, so hopefully this will be okay. We're very excited!

  4. love the 7th, it is my absolute favorite. It's interesting that they have to split the 7th into two movies. However I haven't been too pleased with the movies lately. They skip so many important points in the books. Oh well, what can you do. I did love the 6th movie though, I thought they did a good job on it. I can't wait for the movie to come out (to tell the truth I haven't given a thought about how it might scare me). I wouldn't mind much if we missed seeing it at the movie theater. As long as I can watch it at some point or another. I do wish we had all the movies though. We are missing #3, #5 and #6. >:(
